Zaven Thomas Tufenk passed away May 21, 2026, at Prairie Senior Cottages in Isanti. He was 85. Zaven was born and raised in St. Paul. He graduated from Central High School in 1959. After graduation he went into the St. Paul Pipefitters Apprenticeship Program. He finished the program in 1964. He was a member of the Pipefitters Local 455 Union for over 60 years. In 1964 he married the love of his life, Sharon Knowd. They've been married for 62 years. They lived and raised a family in Arden Hills for many years. Until he retired and built a house on the shores of Knife Lake in Mora MN. They were active members at St. Mary's Church. He also was an active member of Knife Lake Sportsman club for many years.

Zaven was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with 3 generations of children. He also enjoyed deer hunting with his family. He enjoyed playing games with grandchildren and cards, especially cribbage, with anyone who didn't mind losing. But what he enjoyed doing most was enjoying time at the lake with family.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Lucille (Lucy) in 1961 and his first wife Mary Lou Gregoire in 1963. His father Zaven Tufenk passed in 1987, and his mother Marcella Tufenk passed in 2000.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, and 3 sons, Thomas Tufenk (Sue Larson), Mark Tufenk (Shelby) and Dan Tufenk (Nancy).  Grandchildren: Tommy Tufenk (Katie), Kelly Asher (Jesse), Robyn Tufenk (Joe Williams), Nicole Tufenk, Kaitlyn Tufenk, Jaden Tufenk, Connor Tufenk (Savanna), Grant Dalquist, Tanya Austin (Steve). Along with 4 Great Grandchildren: Paislee Asher, Hailey & Mason Tufenk and Maverick Tufenk. His siblings: Michael, Steve, Dian and Dean.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Methven Funeral Home, Dresser-Methven Chapel in Mora with Father Timothy Gapinski officiating.  Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M.  Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date.
