God took him home and under His wing

Zachary R. Springer passed away at his home on Ann Lake in Ogilvie, Minnesota on Saturday, September 6, 2025.  He was 41 years old.

Zach was born to Vince and Sheri Springer on March 28, 1984, in Milaca, Minnesota.  He entered the world loudly, letting his presence be known at a whopping 10 pounds 8 ounces.  He continued to live his life that way, always wanting to be heard.

He had a pretty ordinary, active childhood and like all young boys he had his fair share of bumps and bruises, scraped knees and bloody noses.

Zach loved to ride his dirt bike all around in the summer, and then winter would hit and out came the 4-wheeler and snowmobiles.  He loved to be a speed demon.  He also enjoyed hanging out with his cousins during summer vacation and getting into mischief.  He would always come home from spending time at his Uncle Jim and Aunt Connie's always excited from the fun he had with his cousins Kevin, Bryan, and Andy.  He was always boasting about his Uncle Jim's cool old car and telling his mom all about Aunt Connie's cooking.  He would always tell his mom that she needed to learn how to cook like Connie, she could put anything in a pot and make it taste good.  He always used to tell his mom that she needed to learn how to relax like Aunt Connie because she didn't yell a lot like his mom.

Zach had a very infectious personality and always liked to tell stories and make people laugh.  He loved being the center of attention and being noticed, he always liked hanging around with the adults. Coming from his mom's side of the family where there were seven daughters, no boys, Zach got plenty of that.  As he grew older and started having cousins, he always took it upon himself to boss the little kids around and tell them what to do.  He always let it be known to the little kids that he was the oldest, so they had to listen to him.

Zach attended school in Braham during his early years and went to Mora for a few years when he got older.

Zach worked most of his life in the construction business and when oil became popular, he moved out to Williston, North Dakota and worked out there for 13 years before returning home to Minnesota.  He continued to work in the construction field until 2021 when he became ill and could no longer work.  When that happened, he became great friends with an old Springer family friend, Rick Barnes.  Together they would spend countless hours swapping stories and talking about what was wrong with the world.  He loved old movies, old music, and his mother often referred to him as an old soul.

Zach loved to fish, ride his Harleys, and whenever he could he loved hanging out with his Uncle Jim, drinking beer and talking smack.

Zach and his mom always had somewhat of an up and down relationship.  Even though they didn't always see eye to eye, mom and son always knew each other loved the other one.  In early 2024 Zach's mom was in a horrific car accident and after months in the hospital and after all his aunties had to go back to work, Zach did something no one expected and moved in with his mom to take care of her.  And what an awesome job he did.  He was entrusted to pretty much take care of everything.  He would love to give her messages to help ease her stiff joints, and when things got tough for his mom during recovery he would help get her into the wheelchair and wheel her up to the sink and wash her hair, because he knew how much better that made her feel.

Zach will be remembered for his infectious smile, quick temper, and sassy mouth.  And let's face it, that's just who Zach was.  We had to love and appreciate him in spite of those things and love him we sure did.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Springer, his uncle Dave Springer and his grandfather Tom Koep.

He will be sadly missed by his mother Sheri Springer and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Let's remember all the good times we shared with him and all the good times we have yet to experience.  Eventually, we will all be reunited in God's Kingdom.  Until then Zach, remember we love you, and we will miss you, and eventually we will all be together again.
