Obituary

We are heartbroken to share that William "Bill" Roger Wimmer, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the Sandstone Health Care Center on February 19, 2025, just a few weeks shy of his 80th birthday. Born on March 8, 1945, in Rush City, MN, to William and Helen (Pehl) Wimmer, Bill grew up with a big family and attended Pine City High School.

Bill lived in Hinckley, MN, for many years before making the move to St. Cloud in 2012, where he enjoyed living with his daughter, Rhonda. He married Rita Bostrom on April 24, 1965, and together they created a loving home filled with laughter and warmth.

For four decades, Bill worked as a newspaper agent in the Hinckley area and also contributed his skills to the Pine County Highway Department. He was well-known in the community, as an avid hunter and fisherman who never missed a chance to share a good joke over coffee with his friends at local cafes. Anyone who met him would remember his big smile and quick wit.

Bill was a cherished family man who loved his children, Roger and Rhonda, with all his heart. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Rita, five brothers, four sisters, and his infant son, Allen Wayne. He leaves behind his son Roger Wimmer of Mora, MN; his daughter Rhonda Wimmer of St. Cloud, MN; his grandson Casey Wimmer of Ogilvie, MN; his granddaughter Carla Wimmer of Mora, MN; his great-grandson Cason Wimmer of Ogilvie, MN; his brother Clarence Wimmer of Pine City, MN; his sisters Mary Mullins of Pine City, MN and Delorus Mammenga of Maplewood, MN; brother-in-law Lonny (Cindy) Bostrom of Hinckley, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank William's caregivers at Sandstone Health Care Center and the amazing staff at St. Croix Hospice. Their amazing care helped us through this difficult time.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
