William (Bill) Lewis Olson, age 69, of Finlayson, MN passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023. Bill was born on February 26,1953 in Amery, Wisconsin. He was the first-born child of Dale and Gloria. Bill met and fell in love with Chris Buer while he was in high school. They were married on August 19,1972. Throughout their 50+ years of marriage, Bill and Chris shared a deep love for each other and the Lord, a sense of humor, devotion to family, and a tenacious work ethic. Bill always prioritized his faith, his wife, and his children. His boys were his best friends, and they loved him without reservation. Bill was an extraordinary man who gave the best hugs, advice, and motorcycle rides. He is survived by his wife, Chris; his sons, Craig (Rachel), Nate (Leslie) and Nick (Hannah), 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, parents, Dale and Gloria Olson, and siblings Deb Schleifer, Scott (Deb) Olson, Kari Garvey, and Beth Peterson. Sisters-in-law Sandy (Mike) Hamerski, Beth (Don) Schmidt, Carla (Jerry) Pederson; plus many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Doug Buer, Rick Buer and Jerry Garvey.
Bill's life was one of service; he devoted many years to helping others. He served on the Brooklyn Park Planning Commission for many years. He worked for the State of MN, as a facility director for over 20 years; He was an active member of the MN Chief Engineers Guild and held the offices of treasurer, vice president and president. In 2022 the guild awarded him a lifetime achievement award for 33 years of service. After retirement and moving to Finlayson, he served on the North Pine Area Hospital District Board in the positions of director, treasurer and chairman from 2013-present. He also was serving on the Pine Lake Township Board as a supervisor since 2018. His love for Christ was unwavering, and his service to the church was faithful. He was a ministry head at Living Word Christian Center for over 25 years, and mentored many young men in ministry, and he currently was serving as a deacon of Corner Fringe Ministries.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Bill's caregivers and staff at St. Croix Hospice and a very special thank you to Pastor Daniel Joseph and the entire Corner Fringe community for their prayers and support.
Public visitation on Saturday, February 11 from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Methven Funeral Home in Sandstone, MN. A funeral service will be held on February 19, 2023 at 1 pm for Bill at Back to Captain's, located at 27821 Bayshore Drive NW, Isanti, MN 55040 . Lunch will be served.
