Vernon passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8th, 2025, at 4:00 pm surrounded by his two remaining sons, Dale and David.

Vernon was born on February 16, 1932, in Mora Minnesota. He was the son of Alfred and Amy Nordeen who had four children, Two older sisters Majorie (deceased)and Vivian (deceased) and younger brother Gordan(deceased). While growing up on the family farm located in NW Mora, he learned family values and his father taught him what it takes to run a farm. Milking cows, raising chickens, hunting and trapping were just a few chores of farm life. Vernon went to Mora High School where he eventually met his wife Carol Ann Nash where he played football and baseball.

When he turned 18, he enlisted into the Airforce in 1950 where he spent four years achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. He was stationed at Luke Airforce base in Glendale, Arizona. The Airforce taught him discipline and fueled his love for airplanes and how they work. His service to his country and working on airplanes became his life's work and road map to not return to the hard life of working on a farm.

Following his four years of duty in the Airforce he came home and rekindled his relationship with Carol Ann Nash. They were married on December 10, 1954. They settled in Richfield, Minnesota where they raised 3 boys, Dale, Mark, and David. Carol became a full-time housewife raising the 3 boys. Vern was very involved with their 3 children's activities, and he could be found coaching his kid's baseball and football teams. He was very supportive of all their activities and weekends when not coaching were spent back at the family farm visiting grandpa and grandma and teaching his children about the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was constantly fixing things; he was great with tools and could fix cars and tackle most DIY jobs around the house.

In 1960 he returned to school to learn more about instruments and received his Radio and communications license. Vern was hired by the Peavey Company in 1961 where he worked on their planes at the Minneapolis Airport. His hard work with this company got him noticed and he was recruited to work for the 3M company in 1968. During his 25 years at 3M Company, he learned how to fix their state-of-the-art Gulf stream jets that flew their executives all over the world. Vern retired from 3M company as the senior electrical technician in February of 1993. He and Carol built a home northwest of Mora on 160 acres of land where they both retired and lived until present time. Vern and Carol enjoyed spending time with their 11 grand kids and 13 great grand kids. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors while living on the land that he grew up on. He will truly be missed by all!

Vern is preceded in death by his wife Carol Nordeen, son Mark Nordeen, and survived by son's Dale Nordeen and David (Terri) Nordeen. His grandchildren Kari (Justin) Soderberg, Kyle (Katie) Nordeen, Katie (Reece) Craven, Kris (Kathryn) Nordeen, Michelle (Conrad) Kopec, Nick Nordeen, Tony Nordeen, Noah Nordeen, Leif Whitehill-Nordeen, Tate Whitehill-Nordeen, Finn Whitehill-Nordeen and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Gary Guptill officiating. Visitation will be from 1 until 2 P. M at the church.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora with military honors provided by the Mora American Legion Post 201.
