Verna Mae Charlotte (Allison) Johnson passed away on March 21, 2026 in her room at Elderwood of Hinckley in Hinckley, MN.

Mae was born on May 28, 1940 to Charles and Elverna (Johnson) Allison in Forest Lake, MN. She had one sibling, a younger brother, Raymond (Mary Lou) Allison. When Mae was 7 years old, their mother passed away from kidney failure. Mae assumed the role of woman of the house, helping to raise her brother and take care of the home.

After graduating from Forest Lake School, she went on to make her own home with her husband Marvin D. Johnson in Hinckley (Kroschel), MN. They raised six children (Gail, Mark, Michael, Gregory, Bryan, and Brent) before moving away to Hackensack, MN on Webb Lake. She was a dedicated snowbird, venturing the roadways every fall with Marvin in the driver's seat and her in the passenger's seat, giving directions, eventually making it to their favorite spots in southern AZ.

Mae has a strong will and an adventurous mind. She loved driving, whether it be a car, camper, 4-wheeler, snowmobile or mobility scooter. When she wasn't outside enjoying nature, she was being creative with craft projects, visiting friends or shopping. She had the desire to live to 100 years old and always thought she would dance until the day she died. She struggled to accept her failing body as her mind was still dreaming of new travel plans. In the weeks before her passing, she came to peace with God's plan and was ready to be reunited with Marvin, Brent, Ray and her parents.

She is survived by her children Gail (Dan) Krutzig, Mark (Kristi Brodahl) Johnson, Mike (Wendy) Johnson, Greg (Christene) Johnson, and Bryan (Lynn) Johnson, grandchildren Nathan Krutzig, Kayla (Jace) Jackson, Ashley (Austan) Erickson, Matt (Adrina) Johnson, Kattie (Luke) Nass, Bridget (Jared) Knudson, Cheyenne (Tim) Richards, Andrew Johnson, Alli Johnson, Samantha Siedow, and Jordan Johnson, and 14 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held for Verna Mae at 11am on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kroschel, MN. Visitation will take place Friday, March 27, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm at the Tatting-Methven Funeral Chapel in Hinckley, MN and from 10am to 11am at the church on Saturday before the service. Burial will follow the service at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
