Obituary

Todd Alan Holmes passed away February 1, 2026, at the age of 60. He was born on April 4,1965 to parents Paul and Cleo (Sikkink) Holmes in Sandstone, Minnesota. Todd spent his early years attending Hinckley Schools where he played basketball, ran track, and served as section leader in Choir.

After graduating from Hinckley Schools in 1983 he attended college at Brainerd Technical Institute where he achieved a degree in natural resources with a focus in forestry. He started his career path working beside his father at Holmes Plumbing &Heating, after which he discovered his true love which was ranching. He held various positions at several different ranches, one of which was where he met his loving wife Karen. In later years he became a member at Danforth Community Chapel, Minnesota Farm Bureau, Sandstone Rider's Horse Club, He also became a member and held the office of President in Tri-County Cattleman's.

Todd was an exceptional horseman who had a love for rodeoing, in which he achieved a State Championship in Steer-Wrestling in 1997 and never stood lower than third in the state throughout his rodeo career, he was able to make it to state finals five years in a row and went to United Rodeo Association Finals in Missouri back to back in 1996, 97 and 98. When Todd won The State Finals in 1997 he advanced to The World Finals Rodeo in Charleston, South Carolina.

Todd had a love for the outdoors, he enjoyed several hobbies including hunting, fishing for crappies and watching Minnesota Sports especially the Twins. Todd enjoyed hunting so much that it brought him to several states and Canada, Todd was able to fulfill his dream of hunting an antelope in Montana where he harvested his trophy buck in 2023.

Todd is survived by his beloved wife Karen (married 35 years), Daughter Ann, Father Paul Holmes, Aunt Fern Pluth, Uncle Wayne (Jane) Sikkink, Brother Gary (Rosie) Holmes, and nephews Jeremiah (Tara) Holmes, Jason (Annie) Holmes, and niece Leni Jo (Joe) Levine and several cousins.

Todd is preceded in death by his Mother Cleo, Uncles Donald Pluth, Clyde Holmes, Gareth Holmes, Aunt Lillian Holmes, and Cousin Tate Holmes.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Hinckley, Minnesota with Pastor Dan Brendsel and Pastor Tim Diehl officiating. Burial will take place after lunch at the Clover Cemetery.
