Obituary

It is with great sadness that the Slama family announces the unexpected passing of their beloved daughter, Theresa Jeanine Slama on June 26, 2024. Born on September 15, 1984, in Mora, MN, Theresa was a true Sandstone local, growing up and residing in the community her whole life.

A graduate of East Central High School in 2003, Theresa found joy in her work at Wal-Mart, where she loved greeting customers and Chris' Food Center, stocking candy. As well as engaging in her hobbies, such as fishing, hunting with her dad (being his trigger woman), gardening, and shopping trips to Wal-Mart. Theresa had a talent for starting conversations and connecting with strangers, she enjoyed "beating up" on her brothers (giving them snake bites), visiting her favorite place at Shallow Lake, creating art which always included her favorite color purple, celebrating her birthday with her favorite meal of chicken fried rice and collecting stuffies. She looked forward to her video chats with her sister, Jamie. Theresa's favorite saying was "Theresa Slama like a llama" and calling everyone a "goofball".

Theresa is survived by her loving parents David and Jeanne; her siblings Jeremiah and Ashley Slama, along with their children Alexis, Bailee, Maliah, Brenen and Dawson of Pine City, Kenneth Slama of Merrifield, MN, Jamie Slama (Josh Peterson) of Clarkfield; MN; grandpa, Don Slama Sr., grandpa and grandma, Laverna and Mervyn Becker of Sandstone, MN; and special friend, Tiffany Jerry of Hinckley, MN.

Theresa is preceded in death by her grandma, Mary Slama of Sandstone; great aunt, Isabelle Faacks of Finlayson, MN; great uncle, Butch Slama of Peoria, IL; aunt, Barb Slama of Sandstone, MN; and cousin, Clifton Slama of Sandstone.

In memory of Theresa, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in the Methven Funeral Home Chapel located at 114 5th St, Sandstone, MN, with Pastor Glen Kleppe officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until the service. Lunch and celebration to follow at Askov Community Center.
