Theresa Marie Hansen (Shimek) of Sandstone, MN went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus on March 30th, she was surrounded in love with her husband and children.

Born on January 22, 1942, in St. Paul, MN to Robert & Vera Shimek. Theresa attended various schools within St. Paul, MN. She went on to meet Dale through her sister Pat who worked with Dale at Waldorf Paper Company. They were married on October 21, 1961. From their love came four children; Annette (Jim) Fritzen, Mary (Dan) Griffith, Tammi (Joe) Reed, Brian Hansen.

Terri spent her life as an active member of her church(es) throughout her life. She worked as a teachers aid at Sandstone Elementary school and then went on to teach Kindergarten at Harvest Christian School. Terri loved to garden, read, swim and ride bikes. Terri has a strong love for music and would often greet family and friends in song. Terri loved to sing and dance with friends and family. She enjoyed traveling and adventures that included family and her husband of 64 years. Terri enjoyed spending as much time as she could get with her kids, grand kids and great-grandchildren who referred to her as Grandma GG.

Terri was loved by all who knew her including friends, past students, children and family she provided childcare for and church family in her last stage of life. Terri was cherished and loved by the staff of Augustana Nursing Home who provided care for Terri in her last stage of life. Her children and grandchildren will remember her as a mighty prayer warrior, joyful positive uplifting spirit with strong faith in God that never faltered, even in her final days her love and joy remained.

Theresa is survived by her husband Dale Hansen; children Annette (Jim) Fritzen, Mary (Dan) Griffith, Tammi (Joe) Reed, Brian Hansen. Grandchildren Christopher (Sarah) Griffith, Jessica (John) Dent, Robby (Patty) White, Jacqueline (Chris) McClain, Ashley (Jerrod) White, Aleisha (Shiblu) Ahmad. Great-grandchildren Morgan, Robby, Aliana, Elijah, Esa, Caden, Ibri, Ember, Melody, Zander, Calum Amiya, Eira, Aislynn, Zain, Jibril and Evalynne as well as nieces and nephews.

Theresa was reunited with her infant son Matthew, her father Robert and mother Vera, sister Pat and brothers- Richard & Mike and many cherished family members.

A funeral service will be held at Community Worship Center Friday April 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. a luncheon to follow will be held at Sandstone Evangelical Free Church. Visitation will be held at Methven Funeral Home on Thursday April, 2, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. before the service. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Askov.
