Susan Kay
Ponto
Jun 6, 1948 — Jan 13, 2025
Ogilvie
Susan Kay Ponto died on January 13, 2025 at St. Clare Living Community in Mora surrounded by her family and friends. She was 76 years old.
Susan was born on June 6, 1948, to the late Edward and Evelyn Stassen of Ogilvie, Minnesota. She graduated from Ogilvie High School in 1966. Susan's brother, Dean and her were very close to each other and would walk to and from school together. In the winter Susan would build a snow fort and try to stay in it and not go to school. After graduation she worked at Fingerhut. Larry and Susan met in 1966 and later were united in marriage on July 7, 1971. They had a farm in Ogilvie where they milked cows and did farm work. Susan loved to bottle feed the calves, play cards games, bowling, and being in the kitchen, whether she's making her beans or her no bake cookies which she always knew the perfect amount of ingredients. Susan was also involved in 4-H with her children and then her grandchildren. Larry and Susan enjoyed traveling on cruises, trips to Jamaica, Alaska and Hawaii. She loved family gathering for the holidays and just being with family, she especially enjoyed "sister days". She also worked at Grace Pointing Crossing and then the Mora hospital where she did house cleaning. She then retired and Susan and Larry sold their farm in 2017 and built a new house just outside of Ogilvie.
Susan is survived by her husband, Larry Ponto, stepson, Randy Ponto of North Dakota, son, Jeff (Becky) Ponto of Ogilvie, daughter, Jodi Ponto of Florida, son, Justin (Alisha) Ponto of Ogilvie.
