Our beloved Steven John Thompson, has left us too soon on June 4, 2024, at his home in North Branch. He was born on February 17, 1967, to Philip and Joan Thompson in Owatonna, Minnesota, He graduated from Owatonna High School and went on to excel in both finance and medicine, graduating from the University of Minnesota with degrees in both fields.
Steven was a dedicated professional in the medical field, having worked with prestigious organizations like Mayo Health Systems, Fairview Health Systems, and most recently serving as Medical Director of Inpatient Management for Optum Healthcare Company. He was a respected member of the American Medical Association and various medical associations, always committed to providing the best care possible to those in need.
On November 4, 2011, Steven married his loving husband, Bradley Larson, and together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. He was a devoted father to Grace, Jay, and Kristin, and a proud grandfather to Parker.
Outside of his work, Steven had a zest for life. He was a passionate traveler and enjoyed creating his own wine. Social gatherings at his home were always warm and inviting, filled with laughter and love. Steven's cooking skills were unmatched, with his spaghetti and cheesecake being fan favorites among family and friends.
Steven's infectious spirit and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He cherished moments spent with his fur baby, Gizmo, and loved nothing more than relaxing by a campfire surrounded by his loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Philip Thompson.
He is survived by his husband Bradley Larson of North Branch, daughter Grace Thompson of New York, son Jay Thompson of Duluth, daughter Kristin Larson of North Branch, grandson Parker Larson of North Branch, brother Bill Thompson (Lorie), sisters Sue Cassem (Grant) of South Carolina, Patty Kovitz (Lou) of Seattle, WA, Sara Wacek (George) of Owatonna, Katie Holzerland (Scott) of Owatonna, and several nieces and nephews and his cat Gizmo.
A memorial service to honor Steve will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch with Pastor Paul officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
