With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shirley Jean Vedder, of Sauk Rapids, formerly of Mora, who peacefully left us on March 25, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on April 17, 1952, in Mora, Minnesota, Shirley was a proud graduate of Mora High School. After earning her RN from the Ancker School of Nursing in St Paul, she started her career and family in Mora.

She lived much of her adult life in Minneapolis where she thrived on the culture and excitement of the big city.

Shirley lived her life with passion and purpose, particularly in the areas of health, nutrition, and wellness. She never met a houseplant she didn't love and her passion for gardening, cooking, and decorating for the holidays brought warmth and joy to everyone around her. She cherished her time baking cookies and shopping with her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents Corky and Jewell Nelson, her niece Lori, and nephew Cody.

Shirley is survived by her loving son, Timothy (Valerie) Vedder, and grandchildren Eleanor and George IV, her former husband George Vedder III, her siblings; Henry (Kathy), Paul (Carol), and Greg (Julie), and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will all carry her spirit in their heart.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Dresser Methven Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 2:00PM with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
