Mora
Shirley Mae Ulstrom, née Sundin, departed this world on May 25th, 2022, at the age of 88, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born April 30, 1934, on the farm in Lake Lillian Township, MN, Shirley was the sixth of seven children raised by loving parents Art and Amy Sundin. She left the farm at 16 to care for a doctor's family in Willmar. Shirley and Dave spent their early married years in Minneapolis, briefly relocating to Seattle, then returning to Minneapolis to be closer to family. Shirley paused her nursing career to take on the more difficult duties of a stay-at-home mom with their four children. The family moved to the Mora area in 1967 and it was there they planted their roots.Shirley's selfless and loving nature, not to mention her calm and confident demeanor, were perfect complements to her nursing profession. She always made sure to look her best with fashionably styled hair, sparkling jewelry, and pretty clothes. She looked especially nice wearing her favorite color blue! Her caring nature continued after retirement as she gave of her time as a hospice volunteer, providing comfort during her patient's final hours. It was also during this time she and Dave traveled the world, visiting Sweden, France, and Alaska, among other destinations.
Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved parents Arthur and Amy (Lundahl) Sundin, grandson Benjamin, siblings Paul, Betty, Gordon, Dennis, Jewelle, and James.
She is survived by her husband, David, four children: Peter (Cheryl) Ulstrom, Sheila Parent, Paul (Andrea) Ulstrom and Daniel (Lisa) Ulstrom, 10 grandchildren, 12 ½ great-grandchildren, sisters in law Betty (Les) Waldron, Jean Wellman, Bonnie Davis as well as many nieces and nephews.
