Scott Gary Fitzgerald passed away on Easter morning April 5th, 2026. Scott was 64 years old. He passed away in his home in Moose Lake with his family by his side. Scott was born in Rochester, MN on November 29th, 1961 to Gary and Marianne Fitzgerald. He was the oldest of 4 children.

In 1965 Gary and Marianne moved their family from Rochester to Mahtowa MN, where Scott and his three sisters were raised. Scott attended kindergarten and first grade at the little school in Mahtowa.  Second grade through 12th grade he attended Barnum Schools.  He was a carpenter by trade. Scott was very talented and received this gift from his dad.  He worked alongside his dad building log homes for many years, including a log home on an island in Alaska.  He was fortunate to be able to use these skills as a way to travel, experience many adventures and formed lifelong friends. The most rewarding part of his life as a carpenter was when he was helping people around him. He was especially generous with his time and skill to help the elderly or those in need.

In 1994 Scott married Rhonda Hendrickson. In 1996 twin boys, Skylar and Shay, were born. They lived on the family home in Mahtowa. Becoming a Dad was his greatest joy! He loved them to the fullest.  They are now 30 years old and live in Sparks, Nevada.

Scott took advantage of every day he was given.  He spent many hours in the woods. Even at a young age, he would pack up a couple things and venture across the field and into the woods to spend the night.  He had a love for the race track. A favorite was the Cedar Lake Oval Dirt Track racing. He was a gifted mechanic for the racers. Scott was given the nickname of "Sprint Car".

In 2021 Scott found his forever love, Tammy Johnson. The made their home in Moose Lake. They became a duo when attending the races, and other adventures. They also enjoyed spending many hours picking and collecting agates. He enjoyed spending time with his family, including his many nieces and nephews. They loved their "Uncle Scott". Other interests were woodworking, carving, planting flowers for Tammy, long rides on his bike and recently found a fondness for birds. For the past year there were 2 cardinals that visited him almost every day, a male and a female he named Stan and Molly. Scott had a quick wit and sense of humor. Anyone who knew him would agree! He loved his dogs Angel and Bob and his and Tammy's dog, Zira. All three were great companions and comforts to Scott for years.

Scott will be deeply missed by his fiancé Tammy, his sons Skylar and Shay; His parents, Gary and Marianne Fitzgerald; and his three sisters, Lisa (Ken) Waletzko, Lora (Tom) Little and Lana Dahl; Tammy's daughters Ashley and Tiffany; and dog Zira.   He loved is nieces and nephews Molly, Lance, Mallory, Erik, Patrick, Alicia, Nicole, Mariah, Miranda, Zoey and Dalton; along with their children.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 24th at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet, MN with Fr. Nick Nelson officiating. Visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service from 10 AM to 11 AM.  Inurnment will be at the Mount Salem Cemetery in Mahtowa following the service.  A lunch gathering will take place at the old school, now Salem Lutheran Church Hall in Mahtowa.
