Roy Clement Sebald was a husband, father and grandfather, a retired car dealer, an avid cribbage player, a lover of circus peanuts, a traveler (preferably by car) and an overall good man with a giving heart. He was born on July 26, 1932 in his family's home in Askov, MN to his parents, Anton and Cecilia Sebald. At the age of 92, he peacefully passed away on June 15, 2025.

Roy lived his entire life in Askov. After graduating from high school in 1950 he went on to attend the College of St. Thomas where he earned a BA in business in 1954.

Outside of running the school projector in high school, Roy worked at Sebald Motor Sales, the Ford dealership in Askov owned by his father, for 63 years. He started by sweeping floors and eventually took over the business. He finally retired at the age of 72.

Roy married Margaret Marudas in 1958. They celebrated nearly 67 years of marriage and had three children: Gail, Greg and Greta.

Roy was very committed to Askov, serving as Askov mayor, on the city council and on the First National Bank of the North board of directors for over 50 years. He volunteered with Askov's fire department, the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and the Danish Brotherhood.  Roy and Margaret also established scholarships at East Central High School and the University of St. Thomas.

Roy's happy place was their cabin on nearby Long Lake. He enjoyed puttering around, coming up with projects that weren't necessary, fishing, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Cecilia Sebald, his sister Carol Mader and niece Bonnie Lindberg. He is survived by his wife Margaret, children Gail (Tony) Lusvardi, Greg (Tricia) and Greta as well as seven grandsons and two great granddaughters.

Visitation will be held at Methven Funeral Home in Sandstone, MN on Sunday, June 22 from 4:00-6:00 pm. The funeral will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sandstone, MN at 10:30 am on Monday, June 23, 2025, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am. Burial will take place at Spring Park Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Roy with donations to Fill a Mind & Heart, Pine County Historical Society or St. Luke's Catholic Church.
