Roy Dean Presley was born on June 11, 1949, in Minneapolis, MN. He passed to greener pastures on May 22, 2024, surrounded by his kids, wife, and special friend Moe. His parents, Fred and Alice (Spillman) Presley, and family lived in several different towns around the Twin Cities area. In 1966 he and his family moved to Sandstone where he graduated from high school in 1967.
He enlisted in the Navy and was in the Seabee's doing construction in Vietnam. He finished his service at Glenview, IL in 1970 and then returned to the Hinckley area. He worked at several different jobs through the years until he settled into his career with the Bureau of Prisons in 1980. He worked at the FCI's in Sandstone and Bastrop, TX. He retired as a Maintenance Foreman in 2001 here in Sandstone. He became Dorothy Normann-Presley's love of her life on March 29, 1985. They were married at their home in Sandstone with his three children and Tony and Rhonda Bostrom as witnesses.
He loved playing football and hockey as a kid. He loved spending time with his kids, fishing, hunting, camping, dancing, partying with his friends, construction, and motorcycling. He and Dorothy spent many great times traveling the country in various campers and on his Harley.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice Presley, sisters Gail Ruble and Sheryl Cramble. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Dorothy, children Michelle (Mike) Johnson of Cambridge, Rachel (Greg) Yocum of Mora and Tim (Angie) Presley of Sandstone, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sisters Robyn (Andy) Anderson of Hinckley, Phyllis Presley of Superior, WI and his brother, Gary Presley of Hinckley.
A funeral service will be held for Roy at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Methven Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Roy's burial will take place at Spring Park Cemetery with military honors, following the service. Roy's celebration will be very casual, so dress comfortably and bring some stories to share!
