Robert Monroe
Hoyles
Feb 8, 1932 — Mar 14, 2025
Mora
Robert (Bob) Monroe Hoyles of Ogilvie passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Eastwood Senior Living. He was 93 years old.
Bob was born February 8, 1932 in Pillager, MN to Alfred and Bertha Hoyles.
After graduating from Pillager High School in 1952 he joined the U.S. Army where he was part of the 4th Infantry stationed in Germany until his discharge in 1954.
Upon returning home he married Rosalie Marie Wells on November 24, 1954. They lived in Pillager for six years and had two sons, Larry and Gary, before moving to Braham in 1960 where they had three more sons, Randy, Scott, and Terry.
In 1972 they moved to Ogilvie which became their home.
Bob worked at the Dahlman plant in Braham for a few years before finding his way into construction work where he operated, among other things, a backhoe; he loved the backhoe. After an on-the-job accident he went to work at the Ogilvie Schools as a custodian until his eventual retirement.
Bob's devotion to his wife Rosie was only matched by his devotion to God, the Church, and the Bible. It was truly inspirational.
Bob enjoyed mowing the lawn, vegetable gardening, bird watching, and tinkering with anything he thought he could fix. He also loved watching old westerns, especially Gunsmoke; which we learned never to interrupt.
He is preceded in death by his wife Rosie, parents Alfred and Bertha Hoyles and sisters Victoria (Tootsie), Bernice, and Lois and great granddaughter Sophie Ann.
He is survived by his sons Larry (Gloria) Hoyles of Elizabeth, CO, Gary (Kelly) Hoyles of Mora, Randy (Sandy) Hoyles of Warrens, WI, Scott (Marcy) Hoyles of Coon Rapids and Terry Hoyles of Mora, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are being held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Lewis Lake Covenant Church with Rev. Robert DeYoung officiating. Music is being provided by Michelle Reed and Kitty Haley. Casketbearers are Larry, Gary, Randy, Scott and Terry Hoyles, and Dave Halvorson. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Ogilvie Honor Guard. There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 6 until 8 P.M. at Dresser-Methven Funeral Home in Mora as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local food shelf.
