Obituary

Ricky Laine Barnes was born on September 12, 1956, and passed away on January 19, 2024 at the age of 67.

He was born in St Paul, Minnesota to Jay and Donna (Klemz) Barnes and was the oldest of 9 children.

When he was five years old the family moved to a farm outside of Grasston, MN where he grew up and attended school in Braham, Minnesota.

At the age of 18 he joined the Navy and was honorably discharged.  After he was discharged, he began working at the Cambridge State Hospital.  Ricky later went to school for auto mechanics at Pine Tech in Pine City, Minnesota and he became a certified mechanic.

In 1985 Rick met the love of his life Linda (Gall) Barnes.  They married in June of 1990 in Mora, Minnesota and resided in Grasston, Minnesota.

Up until this time Rick worked various carpentry and cement jobs.  Rick became a stay at home dad after that and did an outstanding job helping raise the couple's two sons.

Rick was a man of many hats, literally and figuratively.  He was a collector, a carver, an agate picker, and a sculptor.  He loved to walk in the woods, and he loved the critters.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, three brothers; Neil, Randy and Robin Barnes and two grandchildren; Evelyn and Henry Barnes.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Linda, his sons; Samuel (Jonelle) Barnes of Mora, MN and Seth (Linzy) Barnes of Grasston, MN, and grandchildren; Wesley, Brooklynn, Jonathon, and Benjamin, siblings; Susan (David) Bartholomaus of Milaca, MN, Donny (Adam) Barnes of Golden Valley, MN, Timothy (Rebecca) Barnes of Florida, Thomas (Nancy) Barnes of Brook Park, MN, Wendy (Leslie) Bloom of Pine City, MN and many nieces and nephews, cousins and aunts.

Rick was a great man! Husband, father and Opa- son, brother, and friend to many!  He will be greatly missed by all.
