Obituary

Richard Grant Hall, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025 at his home in Sandstone, MN.

Richard was born on October 19, 1936 to Alpha (Etzel) Hall and Grant Hall.  He was raised in Michigan, ND where he was baptized and confirmed in the Michigan Lutheran Church. After graduating from high school, he served in the US Air Force for two years. Following his service, he was employed for many years by Murphy Trucking Service, was a member of the Teamsters Union, and resided in White Bear Lake, MN. During this time he was married to Carol Dykoff of Lakota, ND.  This marriage was blessed with two children, Dawn and Kim.

After retiring he moved to his farmstead in Sandsone.  During this time he married Sheila Anderson and was blessed with a son, Ricky, and step children, Angela, Carla, and Tom.

Richard loved the outdoors, nature, and his animals; especially his loyal dogs, Dakota and Axel. He was admired for his strong work ethic. He enjoyed finding treasures at garage sales, and his Amish neighbor's food sales. He also loved political discussions, enjoyed the Packers, was an avid Minnesota Twins fan, and was always appreciative of his many Sandstone friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alpha (Etzel) and Grant Hall; his stepfather, William Foss; brother, Philip Foss; and sister, Sheila (Hall) Bakken.

Richard is survived by his son, Ricky of Sandsone, MN; two daughter's, Kim Hall and Dawn Mondry of Roberts, WI; sister, Mary Rothmann of Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law, Joyce Foss of Bismarck, ND; and brother-in-law, Alan Bakken of Plymouth, MN; step children, Angela, Carla, and Tom; 10 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Axel.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 6 until 8 P.M. at Methven Funeral Home in Sandstone, MN.  Services will continue at the Aaker Funeral Home in Lakota, ND at a date to be determined.
