Richard "Dick" Roesler died on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the Hennepin County Medical Center. He was 87 years old.
Richard was born in Pipestone, Minnesota on October 4, 1935, to Jasper and Edna (Kallemeyn) Roesler. He is a 1953 graduate of Pipestone High School. After high school he married his high school sweetheart Margaret Rae, shortly after that he started his service in the US Navy Reservist. When he returned, attended Augustana to receive his Certification in Banking. He started his banking career as a FDIC Bank Examiner from 1960-1967, at the First National Bank of Menasha he served as Executive Vice President from 1967-1973, he then moved to the First National Bank of Platteville and served as President from 1973 -1985. In 1985 he moved to Mora, Minnesota and finished his career at Peoples National Bank where he served as President until he retired in 1999.
Dick always felt a strong need to give back to his community and served on several boards in various capacities. Some that he was most proud of were; Past President of the Mora and Platteville Chambers of Commerce, Past President and Director for the University of Wisconsin- Platteville Foundation, Past President of the Rotary Clubs of Menasha and Platteville, Secretary of the Mora Improvement Association, Past President and Director of the Minnesota Bankers Association, former VP and Director of the Wisconsin Bankers Association, Past Commander of the Mora American Legion, Post #201, Board Member for the Regional Selective Service, Director and Loan Committee Chair for the GMHF, O/S Rotary Club of Menasha, District #627, Founding member of the Paradise Community Theatre Association, Mora, MN, Mora United Methodist Church Board member and Chair of the Memorials Committee.
He was an avid athlete which included swimming, baseball, and football. At one point, in 1953, he was sought after by the Pittsburgh Baseball Club. He enjoyed Broadway plays, politics, and he was a sports fanatic. He liked listening to music and feeding the birds. He looked forward to his winters in Palm Springs and visiting with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Roesler and his parents, Jasper and Edna Roesler.
Dick is survived by his sons; Robb (Toni) Roesler of Mora, Todd (Mary) Roesler of Brainerd, granddaughters; Laura (Dan) of Edina, Anne (William) of Rochester, Richard of Mora, Andrew of Mora, brother, David Roesler of Burnsville, and his best buddy Rex.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Dresser-Methven Funeral Home in Mora with Rev. Dean Roush officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. Military honors are being provided by Mora American Legion Post 201.
