Richard Elmer Hapke, age 88, of Bruno, MN passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Golden Horizons Assisted Living Center in Sandstone, MN.

Richard was born March 27, 1934, to Elmer and Edith (Jackson) Hapke in Gibson City, IL. He grew up in the Gibson City area, graduating from high school and moving to the twin cities. On September 28, 1953, Richard entered the United States Marine Corps to serve his country. When Richard was honorably discharged, he went on to complete his bachelor's degree at the University of Minnesota. Richard married his wife Patricia Burkhardt on February 18, 1964. For many years Richard and Patricia lived in the cities. They bought a piece of land in the Bruno area for their own little retreat, three years later they moved to Bruno permanently. Throughout Richard's life he had a variety of occupations that kept him busy. He worked as a commodity trader, realtor, and a bus driver. Richard was an artist at heart and loved to build different things along with doing amazing sculptures. Nature and water were another passion of Richard's, he loved to anything that involved water, especially boating and fishing. Richard loved to share his knowledge and was a member of Autumn Winds and OSAC.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia; his sister, Marilyn Hassis of St. Cloud, MN; his brother, Jerry Hapke of Apply Valley, MN; many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Richard on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 1 pm to 4 pm at Robinson Park in Sandstone, MN. Lunch will be provided.
