Paul Hampeys, of Hinckley, Minnesota, passed away at his home on May, 17, 2025. He was 88 years old.
Paul was born on April 1, 1937 to Joseph and Hazel (Schumacker) Hampeys at his parents farm six miles west of Hinckley on "old highway 23". Graduating from Hinckley High School in 1955, he went on to become an accomplished welder, retiring from Bos Mfg. in Zimmerman from the Steam Boiler division. Paul was always a hard worker and was able to fix or build almost anything.
Paul was united in marriage to Vi (Wooster) Hickle on December 6, 1985. They had a great life together, traveling, dancing the polka, and playing cards and cribbage with family and friends. Paul was known for his quick wit and loved telling jokes and stories to lighten everyone's day. Paul was also a dedicated fisherman… by lake, river, or ice.
Paul and Vi retired to land seven miles northwest of Hinckley, where he enjoyed gardening and driving for Meals on Wheels for many years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hinckley.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vi, siblings, Raymond, Helen, Martha, Julia, Edna, Johnney, and stepdaughter Joan. He is survived by his siblings; George (Kathy), Barb, Bob (Linda), Grace, Linda, Dennis, Beverly (Jesse), Ellen, and Diane, stepdaughters; Mary Logan and Janice Vaughn, and daughter Debra Rassbach. He is also survived by many step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends, especially Lila Loomis and Lanna Nolan.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 12:00PM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hinckley, Minnesota with Father Sirba officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Rosehill Cemetery.
