It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Ona Salome Hansen's passing on April 15, 2026, at her home in Sandstone, MN, surrounded by her loving family. Ona, born on August 6, 1971, grew up in Sandstone and filled her life with joy and creativity.

Ona was a proud graduate of East Central High School, class of 1989, and went on to become a beloved waitress who brightened the days of everyone she served. She recently married her soulmate, Bill Forrest, on February 25, 2025, and they shared a special bond filled with love and laughter.

An active member of her community, Ona devoted her time to the American Legion Auxiliary and the Friends of the Sandstone Library. She had a zest for life that shone through her many passions—crafting, dancing, gardening, listening to live music, soaking up the sun, hiking, and traveling. Ona cherished every moment spent visiting with family and friends and had a genuine love for meeting new people.

Ona leaves behind her daughter, Quinn Hansen, her husband, Bill Forrest, her parents, Dennis Hansen and Stephanie Hansen, her sister, Rachel Hansen (Melvin C. Gustafson), and niece Twigg Hansen. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will take place with a gathering of family and friends planned from 12pm to 6pm for August 6, 2026 at Ona's home, located at 211 2nd St, Sandstone, MN.  This will be a potluck, so please bring your favorite dish to share. Let's come together to honor the wonderful person that Ona was and the beautiful memories she created with us all.
