Olaf "Oscar" "Ma'awjiweb" Thomas Jr. died on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at his home in Sandstone.  He was 77 years old.

Oscar is preceded in death by his grandma, Nina Benjamin; his father, Olaf W. Thomas Sr.; his mother, Hildred Thomas; his brothers, David Thomas and Allen "Porky" Thomas; many other aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra "Sandy" Thomas; his children, Paul Thomas, Fawn Thomas, Todd Thomas, Dana Davis, Carrie Anderson, Nina Thomas, Michelle Thomas, Olaf "O.J." W. Thomas III, Brandy Thomas, Jessa Anderson, Terrance Benjamin; many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; brothers and sisters, Lola Morgan, Floreen Graves, Christine Costello, Mike Thomas, Joe Thomas, Terry Thomas and Angel Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Aazhoomog Community Center with Baabiitaw officiating.  The wake will begin at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 8, 2024 also at the center.  Burial will be at Stevens Lake Cemetery with military honors by the Sandstone Honor Guard.
