Nancy Sue Nelson, formerly of Bruno, MN, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, at the age of 70, with her family by her side at the Essentia-St. Mary's Duluth campus. Born on March 11, 1955, in Mora, MN, to Orlow Robert and Phyllis Arlene (Adams) Erickson, Nancy touched the lives of many throughout her journey.

After spending her early years in Bruno, MN, Nancy moved to Sandstone following the passing of her husband, Larry Nelson. She had deep roots in the area, attending school in Sandstone where she graduated and later enjoyed various jobs, including working at General Andrews Tree Nursery, the laundry department at Moose Lake Nursing Home, and as a security guard at Grand Casino Hinckley.

Nancy was known for her vibrant spirit and loved playing rummy, bowling, and being part of the Kroschel softball team. She cherished her time raising small horses, caring for her dogs, and spending moments with family, especially during family softball games.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orlow and Phyllis, her husband, Larry, her sister Cheryl Baran, her nephews, Steven Colsrud and Justin Erickson, stepchildren, Perry Nelson and Holly Good, and several beloved aunts and uncles. Nancy is survived by her sister Kathy (Tom) Colsrud of Sandstone, brother, Gerald (Diane) Erickson of Finlayson, sister, Lisa (John) True of Sandstone, brother, Mark (Carrie) Erickson of St. Cloud, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and step-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm for Nancy at the Methven Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, July 13, 2025 in Sandstone, MN. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Bruno Cemetery following the service.
