Myrtle
Romanowski
Aug 7, 1942 — Jun 18, 2025
Finlayson
*A CELEBRATION OF LIFE HAS BEEN PLANNED FOR MYRTLE STARTING AT 1PM ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2025 AT THE ROMANSOWSKI FAMILY FARM*
Myrtle Mae Romanowski died on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. She was 82 years old.
Myrtle was born on August 7, 1942, to Harmon and Christina (Brunigar) Lewis. She grew up on the farm with nine other siblings and attended school in Finlayson. She married Edwin Romanowski on May 25, 1963 and to that marriage two sons were born, Ronald and Randy.
Myrtle worked a variety of jobs through the years. Her first job was at the Finlayson Co-op store where she met Edwin. She worked alongside Eddie on the farm until the boys were old enough to help, then started work at Minnesota Panel, moving on to work at the Grand Casino Hinckley gift shop until she retired. During all this time Myrtle managed to make and decorate beautiful wedding and graduation cakes. She loved her flowers, gardening, and canning, often sharing her homemade spaghetti sauce with family.
Through the years Ed and Myrtle took a lot of people into their home when they needed a place to stay. Family reunions (both the Romanowski and Lewis sides together) were held at the farm, everyone enjoying games of softball being played out in the pasture, with a lot of food and stories shared along the way. Myrtle also loved Christmas and often had the barn and house decked out with lights, she always loved hosting Christmas Eve with the family. Nieces and nephews often spent many summers helping on the farm. Neighbors would often come by to visit and Myrtle usually had pie or some bars ready to enjoy. Myrtle's greatest joy was her family and spending time with them.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edwin; parents, Harmon and Christina; and several siblings. She is survived by her sons, Ronald and Randy (Kelly); grandchildren, Ryan (Jamie), Adam (Melissa) Reed, Nathan, and Macy; great grandchildren, Camryn, Kori, Beau; and brother, Jimmy (Karen) Lewis.
