It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Thomas Scanlon, aged 71, on January 26, 2025, in Mora, Minnesota. Born on July 30, 1953, in Panama City, Florida, Michael grew up in Blaine, Minnesota, and attended Coon Rapids High School, from which he graduated in 1971. He enjoyed playing sports especially football, broomball, softball, and golf.

Following his high school education, Michael honorably served in the United States Army from 1975 to 1978, as an air traffic control specialist. Upon his return from service, he embarked on a dedicated career in the telecommunications industry, first with US West and later with Quest Telephone as a line splicer. He was a valued member of the Communications Workers of America Local 7200.

Throughout his life, Michael was an avid sports enthusiast, devoting time to watching his favorite teams, including the Minnesota Gophers, Vikings, and Twins. He also enjoyed playing a hand of blackjack every now and then.

Michael was preceded in death by his son, Scott Scanlon; his father, Keith Scanlon; his mother, Esther Scanlon; and his grandparents, Harry and Dorothy Scanlon. He leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories, survived by his son, Steven Scanlon; his sisters, Debbie (Dick) Blaha, Kathleen (Tom) Vickerman, Teresa (Bud) DeWitt, Mary Scanlon, and Patricia (Dan) Kantorwicz; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Kylie Fulwiler, Isabella Scanlon, and Aiden Scanlon.
