Michael Ross Holt, known to friends and family as Mike, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday July 28, 2025, at the age of 70, with his family at his side.  He faced a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.

Born on April 29, 1955, in Willmar, MN, Mike was the son of Stewart and Lois (Ploof) Holt. He grew up in Blaine and was proud to graduate from Coon Rapids High School. His passion for carpentry started young, thanks to the skills he learned from his Grandpa Ole. Mike built a life around his love for craftsmanship, working as a carpenter and later shifting gears to pursue his passion for fishing.

In August 1995, Mike married his soulmate, Renee Holmes, in Montgomery, MN. Together they created a life filled with joy, laughter, and adventure, spending countless hours fishing and hunting. For over 22 years, Mike and Renee ran the Minnesota Tournament Trail (MTT), a walleye fishing circuit that not only allowed Mike to turn his passion into a livelihood but also helped him forge lifelong friendships and build an MTT family.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Stew and Lois Holt, along with his in-laws, Donald and Hazel Holmes, three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and a great niece. He is survived by his loving wife, Renee; daughters Jaime (Mark) Turner and Tracy (Aaron) Peterson; siblings John (Gail) Holt, Barb (Joel) Heebink, Jim (Teri) Holt, and Diane (Todd) Warmbold; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Robert (Maureen) Holmes and Mark (Tina) Holmes.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St Croix Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Mike during his final weeks.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Kev's Depot, 118 NE Railroad Ave, Mora, MN 55051.
