Mary J. Rono died on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Suite Living in Little Canada. She was 84 years old.
Mary was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Charles and Stella (Vardon) Albee on September 2, 1937. She attended school in Minneapolis and lived in the Blaine/Coon Rapids area until 1985.
She was married to Philip Niesen in 1954 and had three daughters; Susan, Kathy and Judy and one son, David, she also lost a set of twins. They were divorced in 1961. In 1968 she married Kurt Kurtzbein and together they had Todd and Robin, they later divorced in 1969. Mary adopted her grandson Robert after the death of her daughter, Kathy. She was married to Arnie Rono from 1974 and divorced in 1983. After the tragic death of her daughter Robin in 1985, she moved to Mora.
Mary was a homemaker and worked for Ball Electronics as well as cleaning houses and doing in home daycare. She loved animals, antiques, and collectable dolls, and was an avid seamstress. Mary loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she enjoyed attending all of their activities. She loved being outside, especially getting a nice tan at the pool in the summer. In fall she loved the leaves, and her favorite colors were red and plaid (red/black).
She loved and helped everyone and was a caregiver to all. She would call and check in with her family daily, always making sure that no one was hungry.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Stella (Vardon) Albee, daughters; Kathleen Niesen, Robin Kurtzbein, son, David Niesen, stillborn twins, sister Lucielle Albee, brother Lenord Vardon and ex-husband, Arnie Rono.
Mary is survived by her children; Judy Niesen (Mora, MN), Todd Kurtzbein (Grand Rapids, MN), Robert Niesen (Mora, MN), and Sue Hallin (Mora, MN), grandchildren; Katie (Andy), Nichole (Lance), James, Justin, Danielle (Steve), Jessie, and Cody, great grandchildren; Gabby and Grace, Taylor, Cassie, Emily, Samantha, Dylan, Destiny and Jax, Hayley, Jessie-James, Bobbi-Jo, sister Rachel and best friend Rose Ciego, and many more friends, family, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
