Marie Ann Bengtson "Waasijiwanooke" died on Thursday, August 1, 2024.  She was 82 years old.

Marie was born on March 28, 1942 in Ogema Township.  She loved traveling and living in Montana, spending time with her family, caring for her grandchildren, picking blueberries, fishing, and going to casinos.  She also liked to joke around with everyone.

Marie is preceded in death by her father, Frank Sutton; her mother, Jennie Wind Sutton; her brothers, Larry Ivan Sutton and Frankie Sutton; her sisters, Bernice Sutton, Gloria Songetay and Lizzie Sutton; her daughter, Dawn Bengtson and her son, David Bengtson.

She is survived by her son, Kim Bengtson; her granddaughters, Jayme Bengtson and Shaylene Olson; great grandson, Kayleb Bengtson; many grand babies; nieces and nephews; her brother, John Sutton; her sisters, Beverly Sutton and Betty Mondeng.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Meshakwad Community Center with Baabiitaw officiating.  The wake will begin at 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 4, 2024 also at the center.  Casketbearers are Kim Bengtson, Kayleb Bengtson, Elvis Sutton, Jeremy Sutton, Larry Sutton and Kevin Sutton.  Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery.
