Margaret Ann Tenquist (Libra), passed away on March 30, 2024, at Golden Horizons Assisted Living in Sandstone, MN, where she had resided since 2022. She was born on December 22, 1931, in Brook Park, MN to Joseph and Frances (Christofek) Libra. As a child, Margaret and her family moved to Mission Creek. In her early school years she attended a one room school, eventually graduating from Hinckley High School in 1949.
Marge met her husband William B. Tenquist (Bill)at a dance at Happy's in Hinckley. They went on to be married May 28, 1955, and lived in the Minnetonka area. Prior to having children, she worked as a comptroller at Honeywell. In 1972 she moved to Sandstone with her family.
Marge variously worked in education; at the Montessori school in town, at the Sandstone High School, at St. Croix Camp, and at the FCI in the library
She was an active member of the St. Luke's Catholic Church and was an integral part of her family's life, helping with the myriad of fundraisers, extracurricular activities, and sports. She supported any activity which furthered her children's education. She was curious, intelligent, resilient, persistent, had a well-developed sense of fairness, a fierce love of her family, and a great sense of humor. She had wide ranging interests including travel, cooking, reading, sewing, gardening, watching the wildlife on the farm, and upholstery. She loved spending time with her family and will be truly missed.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, grandson Ben, parents Joseph and Frances, four brothers, and four of her sisters as well as multiple in laws, nieces, and nephews. She is survived by her children Bill of Sandstone, MN, Jane (Kevin) of St. Louis, MO, Cathy of Newman Lake, WA, and Tom (Rasy) of Savage, MN. Also survived by her sister Betty of Ely, MN; grandchildren Jake and Elizabeth; sisters-in-law Bernice and Mabel; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services for Marge will be held at 11 AM on May 20, 2024, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sandstone, MN, with Father Joseph Sirba officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Spring Park Cemetery following the service.
