Marcella Jean Maurice passed away on December 15, 2024, at Our Lady of Peace Hospice Care in St. Paul, MN. She was 75 years of age.
Born in Hinckley, MN on October 12, 1949, Marcy was the daughter of John and Marian Dunkley. Marcy attended and graduated from Hinckley High School and North Dakota State University (B.S. and M.S. in Elementary Education). She taught at the Sandstone Elementary School for 16 years. She was then employed at the Grand Casino in Hinckley as Director of Slot Services and retired in 2020.
Marcy married and divorced Jim Perry who was originally from Elbow Lake, MN, now residing in Saskatchewan, Canada. In 1982, she married Dave Maurice, of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada. They lived in Hinckley until his death.
Marcy (Bimoseikwe) was a member of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. She enjoyed all forms of gaming and never wavered in her belief that the "Big" one was just a pull away. Marcy will be remembered for her green thumb, her love of reading and visiting with friends and family.
Marcy is survived by two sons, Jason Perry and Paul Maurice of Hinckley, MN; sister, Geri Germann of Sandstone, MN and brother, Jack Dunkley of Cottage Grove, MN. Her siblings, sons, friends, dogs and pups will miss her.
Marcy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marian Dunkley; her brothers, Willard, Duane, Doug, and Donovan; and her husband, Dave Maurice.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Aazhoomog Community Center with Baabiitaw officiating. Burial will be at the Stevens Lake Cemetery. The visitation will be held at 4:30 on Wednesday, December 18 also at Aazhoomog.
