Lurene Elsie Schmidt, age 71, of Bruno, MN passed away August 10, 2023, at Essentia Health in Moose Lake, MN with family by her side after a very courageous battle with liver cancer.

Lurene was born October 29, 1951, in Moose Lake, MN to Charles and Elsie (Newman) Hanson. On May 2, 1981, she married Roger Schmidt and to this union they welcomed two daughters. She enjoyed farming, volunteering at her children's school, sewing, helping take care of everyone and what she loved the most were her three granddaughters. They were really the light of her life.

Lurene is preceded in death by her loving husband Roger; her parents Charles and Elsie; brother Donavon Hanson; sister, Florence Holm; and niece Virginia Erickson.

Lurene is survived by her daughters, Jayme (Ben) of Askov and Amy of Bruno; her precious granddaughters, Kaylee, Kennedy and Kiya; brothers, Ray (Nancy), Dennis (Jayne), Darrell (Jeryl); sisters, Gladys (Aryln) Sievert, Mary (Clifford) Monette, Darlene, Tammy (Mark Benson); Al Holm, Janet Hanson; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, including Dalton, who held a very special place in her heart.

A Celebration of Life and inurnment will be held at a later date.
