Leslie "Les" Andrew Anderson, a beloved fixture of the Hinckley community, passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born on November 14, 1936, in Sandstone, MN, Les made his mark in life with a strong work ethic, a love for standing among friends, and a passion for all things mechanical.

Growing up, Les attended Friesland School until the 8th grade before moving on to Sandstone High School, where he graduated in 1954. After high school, he made Hinckley his home and married Virginia Mortenson. Together, they raised four children before eventually parting ways. Les later married Barbara Hanson in South Dakota. They lived in the Hinckley area, where he continued to contribute to the community he loved even after his second marriage ended.

Les was known for his work as an excavator, running his own company and dedicating many hours to working on dozers, graders, and scrapers. When he wasn't busy with machinery, he enjoyed woodworking and could often be found at local thrashing shows, sharing stories and laughs with fellow enthusiasts. His mornings were frequently spent at Tobies, sipping coffee and catching up with friends.

He was preceded in death by his sons Kenneth L. Anderson and Richard F. Anderson, as well as his parents, Andrew A. and Louise (Klein) Anderson, and his grandparents.

Les is survived by his children, Keith A. Anderson of Mora, MN, Kari J. (Anderson) O’Donovan of Hinckley, MN, and daughter-in-law Anne Anderson, along with eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy.

A funeral service will be held for Les at 11am on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the Methven Funeral Home chapel in Sandstone, MN, with Pastor Brenda Wicklund officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Lutheran Memorial Cemetery in Hinckley, MN, following the service.
