Lawrence Wermerskirchen was born August 10, 1934 in Willow River, MN to Anna (Doege) and Jacob Wermerskirchen.  He was the eighth of eleven children.

At a young age, Lawrence served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.  After serving in the Army, he worked for the railroad and then for the A. Henriksen Rutabaga warehouse.  Lawrence eventually found the job that would be the next 57 years of his life, logging.  In 1965, Lawrence started Wermerskirchen Logging which he was operating up until his last days.

Lawrence went to be with the Lord Monday, June 6, 2022 surrounded by his children.  He will be missed by his many friends and family, and welcomed into heaven by his son, Jaran, and his brothers and sisters who have gone before him.  Rest in peace, Lawrence.  Your work on earth is done.

Lawrence was preceded in death by siblings Roseann, Joan, Donna, Norbert, and Jacob and his son, Jaran.

He is survived by sisters Luella, Irene, Marjorie, Marilyn, and Loretta; his children Jeff, Linda, and Julie; and his grandchildren Jacob, Samantha, and Emma.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lawrence at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, in Sandstone, MN, with Father Joseph Sirba officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial for Lawrence will be private with military honors.
