Obituary

Lavonne Marguerite Cooper, a beloved figure in the Isle community and a dedicated homemaker, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on November 4, 1933, in Lakeside Township, MN, where Lavonne spent her youth before moving to St. Louis Park, where she worked as a nanny for a short time. However, her heart always belonged to the Isle area, where she returned to make her home.

Lavonne's education journey began at Lakeside School, continuing at Aitkin High School for her freshman through junior years, ultimately graduating from Isle High School. Life took a beautiful turn when she married Ralph Charles Cooper on November 5, 1955, at the Malmo Free Church, forming a loving partnership that would last a lifetime.

As a homemaker, Lavonne poured her heart into her family and community. She was an active 4-H leader, a cherished member of the Ladies Aid and the Garden Club, and a devoted attendee of Holden Lutheran Church, where she also taught Sunday school. Lavonne's nurturing spirit extended to running a daycare, where her passion for caring for children shone brightly.

Lavonne had a green thumb and loved flower gardening, baking delicious treats, raising chickens, and doting on her grandbabies. Her homegrown flower arrangements became a fixture at the county fair, where she proudly showcased her canning, quilting, and embroidery projects.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Marguerite Eklund, her brothers; Roy, Marlyn, Norman, Larry, Jerry, and Philip, and her loving husband Ralph Cooper.

Lavonne is survived by her sisters; Corrine Maxwell of Isle, Elaine (Dennis) McPheeters of Minnetonka, Jeanie (Phillip) Brooks of Eagan, her children; Louan (Scott) Dehler of Isle, Chuck (Sheila) Cooper of Isle, and Liza (Ryan) Taylor of Golden Valley, ND, grandchildren; Kendal Hursey, Byron Cooper, Zeb Dehler, Gavin Cooper, Tember Anselmo, and Olivia Taylor, great-grandchildren; Claire Hursey, Zoey Hursey, Weston Cooper, Declan Hursey, Evelyn Cooper, and Parker Anselmo.

A memorial service to celebrate Lavonne's life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Holden Lutheran Church with Marty Berg, SAM officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will take place at Holden Lutheran Cemetery following the service.
