Larry L. Rowley passed away peacefully on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Eastwood Senior Living in Mora, Minnesota.  Mary, his wife of 61 years, was by his side.  He was 87 years old.

Larry was born at home in Grasslake Township to Leo and Golda (Smith) Rowley.

After graduating from Mora High School in 1954, Larry enlisted in the Navy and served from 1955-1959.  His journey took him to the Great Lakes Boot Camp, spending most of his time in Okinawa and the Aleutian Islands.  He spent his time in the service working with the construction battalion.

Upon returning to Mora, Larry worked at multiple businesses including Steven's Buick, Hornquist Chev, Federated Co-op, Bluewater, Vern's Plumbing, and then onto Gorham Oien Mechanical, where he spent 24 years.

In 1993 a cabin was purchased on Whispering Lake.  Both Larry and Mary made this their second home until 2014.

Being a social butterfly, Larry was a member of many clubs, groups, and organizations.  He loved volunteering for the Vasaloppet, was involved in hunting and car clubs, and was a familiar face at Sportsmen's.  In his later years he was a common face at Jeff's Welding, scrapping out old chainsaws.

Larry and Mary enjoyed camping and fishing.  Over the years they took many trips to Canada and several trips to Alaska, by air, land, and water.  Numerous other trips took place from Nova Scotia to Costa Rica.  However, Larry's favorite place was always his woods and river property along the Snake River.  That is where he spent 60 years hunting and fishing and putting up his own wood.

Larry is survived by his wife Mary, his two daughters; Val Luttrell (Milt) and Mona Norgaard (Jeff), five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, brothers; Dennis (Vi) Rowley, Roger (Cheryl) Rowley, and Don (Deloris) Rowley, sister-in-law Kathy Hovland and brother-in-law Davis (Pat) Pottratz, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Gary Guptill officiating.  Visitation will be on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 3 until 5 P.M. at Dresser-Methven Funeral Home in Mora, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.
