Sadly, we share the news of the passing of Kim "Bernie" Walter Kolesar, of Brook Park, who died on August 6, 2024. He was born on January 3, 1965, to Leslie and Delores Kolesar in Braham, Kim lived a life filled with hard work, friendship, and love. Growing up on the Kolesar farm in Brook Park and later moving to Hinckley, where Kim attended school and graduated with honors from Hinckley High School in 1983.

From a young age, Kim showed his entrepreneurial spirit, starting his own lawn mowing business and later becoming partners in K & K Excavating. He had a love for drag racing at Rockway Falls racetrack and spent countless hours at the Willow River Roller Rink in the '80s.

Following high school, Kim began working at Daggett's in Hinckley, using his knowledge to secure a job at Lund's in the Twin Cities. While working there he attended Dunwoody Institute for Auto Body before returning to earn degrees in Building Operating Equipment Maintenance and Electromechanical Technology from Northeast Metro Technical College.

Kim was a member in good standing with the International Operating Engineer Local #70.  He worked as an HVAC Stationary Engineer for various companies including, Embassy Suites Hotel, Health East- St. Joseph's Hospital, Fortis Company, spending most of his time with NRG (formerly Clearway) before retiring in 2020.

He spent his final years caring for his father Les and tending to the family farm.

Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Michael and Elizabeth Kolesar, paternal uncles; Raymond Kolesar, and Edward Kolesar, maternal grandparents Walter and Leda Bauer, his mother Dee (Bauer) Kolesar and best friend Robert (Berry) Shaefer.

Kim is survived by his father Les Kolesar, St.Clare Living Community, Mora, Minnesota, his partner P'Jay Bixby and her parents, Michael and Merrilee Bixby of Brook Park, friends; Mary and Marty Kelm of Brook Park, Steve and Diane Lingle of Sturgeon Lake, and many other friends he considered family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 2:00PM at First Lutheran Church in Hinckley, Minnesota with Pastor Erik Rundquist officiating.  There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Memorials preferred to the SCLC Foundation (St. Clare Living Community Foundation).
