Obituary

Kenneth Carl Petersen, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2023, at the age of 89. Born on February 27, 1934, in Kandiyohi, MN, Kenneth was the son of Jake and Birdie Petersen.

Kenneth grew up on a farm in Willow River, MN, where he developed a strong work ethic that would carry him through life. He attended Willow River School, where he made cherished friendships that lasted a lifetime. On February 1, 1953, he married Marliss Blodgett, and together they built a beautiful life. Kenneth and Marliss resided in Hinckley, MN, from 1969 until 2021 when Kenneth moved to Sandstone, MN.

During his life, Kenneth worked as a skilled truck driver and farmer. His dedication and commitment to his work were admired by all who knew him. Kenneth had a zest for life and enjoyed many hobbies. He loved fishing, hunting, and embarking on adventurous travels. Dancing with Marliss brought him immeasurable joy, and they shared countless unforgettable moments together.

In his leisure time, Kenneth enjoyed playing cribbage and Yahtzee, particularly if it involved friendly competition with his family and friends. He would often be found sipping his cherished cup of coffee while engaging in heartfelt conversations with his loved ones. Kenneth had a warm and welcoming personality that made everyone feel at ease in his presence.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marliss, his parents, Jake and Birdie Petersen, his brother Phil Petersen, his sister Marion Furey, and his great-granddaughters, Anjalina and Britney. Left to cherish his memory are his children, LeRoy (Debbie) Petersen of Fairbanks, AK, Kevin (Renee) Petersen of Hinckley, Robert (Lori) Petersen of Hinckley, Teresa (Jeff) Williams of Hinckley, Michael (Kathy) Petersen of Hinckley, and Tim (Sue) Petersen of North Branch. Kenneth also leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and joy. He will be deeply missed by his family, relatives, and friends.
