Katherine "Kathy" Marie (Molgaard) Exsted, 66, of Bruno, MN, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at Essentia-St. Mary Campus in Duluth following a sudden and short battle with cancer. She was born on February 7, 1959, and grew up in the area, attending Bruno and Askov High School before graduating in 1978.

Kathy had a long career, spending nearly 20 years at Fingerhut and another 20 years at Kettle River Pizza, where she was known for her friendly demeanor and hard work. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing ball and always loved tuning in to sports games on the radio.

Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Anders Molgaard; her sister, Cindy Kroohn; and her grandparents. She is survived by her loving mother, Edith "Dode" Molgaard of Bruno; her son, Danny Exsted of Bruno; and her brothers, Denny (Jan) Molgaard of Bruno and Marty Molgaard of Sandstone. She also leaves behind her treasured nephews, Jason (Denise) Molgaard of Esko, Jeremy Molgaard of Chicago, Josh (Kimberly) Molgaard of Colorado, and Randy (Brenda) Price of Finlayson, as well as her nieces, Salena Molgaard of Ogilvie and Sarah Sword of North Branch, and five great nephews who held a special place in her heart, along with many friends and family who will miss her dearly.

Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Kathy's life on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Methven Funeral Home chapel in Sandstone, MN. Kathy will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with those around her.
