Joyce Lea Volk passed away peacefully at her home on April 8, 2024, with family by her side. She was 92 years old.

Joyce was born on December 21, 1931, to Axel and Darlene Jensen in Mason City, IA. Growing up she was affectionately named 'Noonie' by her younger sister Carol. Joyce was baptized in Mason City, IA on October 20, 1946, and was confirmed in Roswell, New Mexico on May 29, 1955.

After school, Joyce worked as a waitress in the local café in Sandstone.

She met Lloyd William Volk at Happy's Dance Hall. The two were married on December 27, 1951. Shortly thereafter, Lloyd whisked her away to live the Air Force life. For the next nearly 20 years they were stationed in a variety of different places which included Wichita Falls, TX; Roswell, New Mexico; Sault St Marie, MI; Waldorf, Germany and Merced, CA. Joyce and Lloyd loved raising their three children all throughout their journey. Lloyd retired from the Air Force in 1970, and him and Joyce decided to buy a small farm just outside Sandstone, where they made their home.

It was Joyce's loving nature to always make sure everyone else around her was taken care of, especially when it came to a good meal. She loved to cook and bake from her famous banana bread to steak fingers and many other signature dishes. She never stopped being a mother and caretaker from taking care of her parents to her great-grandchildren. Joyce loved to sing, 'Jesus Loves Me' and 'You are my Sunshine' were her favorite. She sang them to her grandkids and great grandkids until her very last breath.

Joyce is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lloyd; father, Axel Jensen; stepfather, Holgar Larson; mother, Darlene Larson; brother, Dean Jensen; and granddaughter, Angel Marie Grover.

Joyce is survived by, her daughter, Connie (Abdou) Volk, of Sandstone, MN; sons, Ronnie (Denise) Volk of Finlayson, MN, Steve Volk, of Sandstone, MN; sister, Carol Dollar; sister in law's Deloris (Gary) Harmon and Jean Volk; her grandchildren; JD, Aimee, Mike, Rhonda (Brad), Daniel, Jesse (Jessica), Cory; her great grandchildren: McCoy, Jackson, Olivia, Addison, Sydney, Gracie, Walter, Harper, Piper, Weston, Mavrik, Adalyn, Brinley; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service will be held for Joyce at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church in Finlayson, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Spring Park Cemetery in Sandstone, MN following the service.
