John Kenneth Hemmeter, a beloved resident of Wagner Township, MN, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Born on March 14, 1942, in St. Paul, MN, John was the son of Kenneth and Mary Marguerite (Velderman) Hemmeter. He spent his childhood in the St. Paul area, where he attended St. Cecilia Catholic School and graduated from Murry High School in 1960. Ensuring his family's legacy of service, he served in the United States Army from December 14, 1966, to December 13, 1968.

John married the love of his life, Anita Marti, on his 28th birthday, March 14, 1970. The couple settled in Finlayson, MN, in 1978, where they built a life filled with laughter and love. John's hobbies brought him immense joy; he was an avid fisherman and a passionate hunter, always looking forward to deer, pheasant, and duck hunting seasons. He loved playing cribbage, working on puzzles, and tending to his garden. In the winter, he enjoyed escaping to Florida for three months, relishing the sunshine. To John, there was nothing better than a McDonald's Happy Meal, accompanied by his favorite tunes from Creedence Clearwater Revival.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mary Marguerite; as well as his sisters, Laurana Stowers and Lenore Freeman.

John is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Anita; daughter, Tina (Brian) Jones of Wyoming, MN; son, Troy (Lana) Hemmeter of Stillwater, MN; daughter, Laura Berthiaume of Finlayson, MN; grandchildren, Taylor (Tyler) Shelton, Aiden Berthiaume, Easton Hemmeter, Elise Connolly, and Colin Connolly; great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Paisley Shelton; and his brother, George (Jackie) Hemmeter of Forest Lake, MN.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to St. Croix Hospice of North Branch, MN for their excellent care.

The Celebration of Life for John will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 1pm to 5pm at 67007 Northridge Road, Finlayson, MN 55735.
