Dr. James H. Knutson (Jim), born on May 31, 1949, in St. Paul, after battling cancer for more than 10 years, died on July 19 surrounded by his family at his home in Mora, Minnesota.

A resident of Mora since 1976, he served the town as a practicing dentist for nearly forty years following graduation from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He coached MAYRA boys' baseball and hockey for several years, was a board member of the Spring Brook Golf Course, and served on the Mora City Council from 1998 until 2004. A local merchant said of him, "Jim gave this community so much."

Jim was an enthusiastic golfer and skier especially when he was able to do so with his kids and family. Jim still holds the course record at Spring Brook Golf Course, which he shot back in 1999. He was a frequent participant in the annual Mora Vasaloppet.

Jim is survived by his wife, Julie French; his three children, Stephanie Knutson, Cathleen Knutson (Gerry Marvin), and John Knutson; his sisters Karin (Jeff Grosscup) and Mary (Michael Brabeck); and brothers David (Luanne) and Gerhard (Mary Jo); and brother-in-law, Mark French.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to https://www.skincancer.org/
