Our beloved mother Jeannette (Dolly) Smith passed away on Hospice in the comfort of her home on Sunday August 15, 2021, in the care of her close family.

Jeannette was born in Milwaukee, WI. On September 07, 1940, to Bernard and Lucille Blady (Nee: Machurski). She attended St. Stanislaus Catholic school graduating in 1958 before marrying Arthur B. Smith on February 14, 1959. They resided in Milwaukee where they raised five children, she attended Notre Dame where she earned her degree in culinary arts and used that skill to help prepare great meals for the Benedictine Sisters for many years.

In 1994 Jeannette, Arthur, and their daughter Rebecca moved to Kerrick MN to join three of their other children that had already relocated there. She soon went to work at Grand Casino Hinckley as a cook before moving to the security department. She enjoyed working with the awesome people there for 18 years before retiring at the age of 72. When Jeannette was 60 years old, she attended Lake Superior and Fondulac community colleges with her oldest daughter where she earned a dual degree, an associate of art's degree and an associate degree in social services. While she never held an official position in this field, she was such a good listener that people would stand at the security podium and just discuss their life history and problems with her. Jeannette enjoyed the rural life living on several acres of land with five generations, raising animals, gardening, and reading, but she also liked to head to the city for some shopping, and nightlife.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her parent's Bernard and Lucille Blady, her husband Arthur B. Smith, her son Arthur L. Smith, her son-in-law Scott A. Fredrick, and a grandson Nathen J. Smith.

Jeannette is survived by Her sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Larry Ouellette of Racine WI, lifelong friends Richard and Darlene Krueger of Milwaukee WI, three daughters, Rebecca (Troy) Smith of Kerrick MN, Cheryl Fredrick of Kerrick MN, Carrie Gerou of Mora MN, and one son Steven (Cathy) Smith of Sandstone MN.  She has 10 grandchildren including Dean (Cindy) Fredrick of Cherryvale KS, Jamie Fredrick of Sandstone MN, Jessie (LeAnn) Fredrick of Kerrick MN. Ect…, 25 great-grandchildren including Dominique (Douglas) Love, Dakota (Jordan) Fredrick, Sierra (Adam) Fredrick-Koll, Louis (Jade) Gourd/Fredrick, Legend Fredrick, Elizabeth Fredrick, Vincent Fredrick ect…, and 4 great-great grandchildren including Hunter Douglas, Bud Theodore, Everhett (aka. Peanut), Jessie Aaron; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
