Jean Louise Peterson died Thursday, March 20th at the Eastwood Senior Living facility, in Mora, at the age of 79 years.
Jean was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 12th, 1946, the first child of parents Robert and Katherine (Bolf) Becker. The family moved to Minnesota when she was an infant, where she attended Mora Public Schools and graduated from Mora High School.
Jean worked at the Mora clinic, before spending most of her career as a deputy auditor at the Kanabec County Courthouse. Jean was a talented gardener who canned her own produce, and also enjoyed fishing, camping, and trips to the casino with her husband, David.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, David Peterson, brother Kenneth Becker and brother-in-law Doug Price.
Jean is survived by sons Steve (Tabetha) Carda of Woodbury, and Tim (Candie) Carda of Big Lake; sisters Connie (Rick) Kawalek of Mora, Joanne (Brian) Wilkening of Nampa, Idaho, and Joyce Price of Brook Park; brother Ron (Diane) Becker of Circle Pines; half-sister Karen (Gary) Rohla of Twinsburg, Ohio; stepdaughters Arlee (Steve) Friederichs of Duluth and Rondie (Mark) Escamilla of Whitesboro, Texas; grandchildren Meghan (Ben) Hueper of Rosemount, Caila Carda (Thad Pease) of Woodbury, Nicholas Carda (Emma White) of Woodbury, Emily (Mitch) Walker of Big Lake, Cole Carda of Big Lake, Jacob Carda (Izzy Vogel) of Big Lake, step grandchildren Lindsey (Chris) Wantz of Charles Town, West Virginia, Michael McManigell of Denton, Texas, Troy (Anne) Friederichs of Fargo, North Dakota, Maegan Escamilla of Sherman, Texas, Dylan Escamilla of Sherman,Texas; great-grandchild Julie Walker and 4 step great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora with Pastor Jim Bump officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 P.M. on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Dresser-Methven Funeral Home in Mora as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Casket Bearers are Jacob Carda, Cole Carda, Emily Walker, Caila Carda, Nicholas Carda and Benjamin Hueper. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
