Jamie "Gabegabo" Christopher Churchill of the Lake Lena Community, passed away peacefully at the Mille Lacs Health Care Center in Onamia, MN on August 17, 2024. He was 49 years old.
Born on November 11, 1974, in Minneapolis, MN, Jamie resided in the White Fish Community on Stone Lake near the LCO Reservation in WI until 1999. A graduate of Hayward High School, Jamie was known for his dedication and passion as a traditional singer and songwriter, which paid homage to his heritage.
Being a cherished member of the Lake Lena ceremonial drums and a respected 5th degree Midiwin member, Jamie found solace in his music and culture. His love for traditional pow wows, fishing, hunting, and spending time with loved ones defined him in many ways. A gentle soul with a heart of gold, Jamie's kindness knew no bounds, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a loving and kind person, who loved his mother the most.
Jamie was preceded in death by his father, Skip Churchill, along with his uncles, Braeton "Buzz" Churchill, Albert "Sunny" Churchill, Jr., his aunt, Rayna Churchill, as well as his grandparents, Albert and Bernice Churchill, James Louis, and Betty Jane Martin.
He is survived by his loving mother, Donna Churchill, his siblings Jen, Jess, Jer, Saniel, Jonnie, and Iren, as well as his cherished nephews Shaye, Eyrah, Jer Jr., Braeton, Etcher, Brian, Tristen, and Gabriella.
