James "Jim" Thomas Thurner of Hinckley, MN passed away at his home on Sunday, September 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old.

Jim was born on April 16, 1940, in Minneapolis, MN to Frank and Blanche (Larson) Thurner. He grew up in NE Minneapolis and graduated from Edison High School in 1958. Four years later Jim married his sweetheart, Hilma "Sami" Kranick on February 17, 1962. Together they raised their children, Jamie and Tara; and made a life for themselves in Spring Lake Park until 2010, when they moved to Hinckley, MN. Jim worked at Timesavers, as an electrical assembler, from April of 1965 until he retired. If Jim wasn't working on one project or another, you could find him enjoying one of his many hobbies. He loved to listen to country music. Other activities that brought a smile to Jim's face was spending weekends at the cabin, where he would ride his four-wheeler around checking everything out. Otherwise, you could find Jim watching football or heading out to the casino, to see if he could hit it big.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Hilma; his parents, Frank and Blanche; his son, Jamie; his sisters, Barb and Nancy; and his brothers, Frank, Kenneth, and Greger.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Tara; his sister, Lynne; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for Jim at 2pm on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Hinckley Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor Dennis Wadsworth officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
