James R. Skille from Willow River, Minnesota died on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at home with his loving wife and family.
Jim was born on November 26, 1944, in Cloquet, Minnesota to Elsie (Borg) and Hildore Skille. He graduated from Wrenshall High School and the Minnesota College for Art and Design (MCAD). He married Judy Granzow after high school, and they had two children, Jennifer and John.
Jim started his career as an art director with Dillon Advertising, then Paragon Advertising, and a few years later started his own business Skille Design, Inc. Nan left her job at Mutual of Omaha to join him in 1985.
Jim and Nan lived in Eagan for 38 years before retiring to Willow River, Minnesota in 2020.
Jim enjoyed playing guitar with his brother John, son John, and granddaughter Eliot. He liked tennis, hiking, kayaking, biking, Caribbean cruises, vacationing with brother John and wife Judy, camping in the Boundary Waters, Grand Prix auto racing, and photography. Jim especially enjoyed his services as lay minister at Lutheran Church of the Ascension.
He was a kind, generous man who was loved by all.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Hildore Skille, his sister, Karen Fournier, and brother, John Skille.
He is survived by his wife Nancy (Nan); daughters, Jennifer and Sarah (Dylan); son, John (Leah); grandchildren, Joshua, Eliot, Auden, Joel, Timothy, Maren; great grandson, Jase; nephew, Eric (Kathy); nieces, Hilary (Kahing), Jocelyn, Tara, and Tania (Kory); his cats, Dottie, Charlotte, Hazel; bird, Oscar; and grandpup, Sunny.
In lieu of flowers Nan and the family ask that people consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, located at 1720 E Minnehaha Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN 55407. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. A reception will be held at Sarah and Dylan's home following the service. The address is 1034 Mayfield Heights Lane, Mendota, MN 55118.
