Obituary

James Michael Cruit, lovingly known as "Jim," peacefully passed away in his sleep on January 14, 2024, at the Sandstone Health Care Center in Sandstone, MN. He was 89 years old. Born on July 19, 1934, in Nobles County, MN, Jim was the son of Jeremiah and Gertrude Cruit.

After graduating from high school in 1952, Jim bravely answered the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the Marines in 1953 and served as a dedicated radio operator. Jim's unwavering commitment led to his honorable discharge in 1956.

Following his military service, Jim embarked on various endeavors in his life. He became a proud owner of a printing company, which he successfully managed for over two decades. Eventually, Jim retired from the business world and embarked on a new adventure.

Yearning for new experiences, Jim ventured to Ireland, where he resided for the next 10 years. His wanderlust took him to numerous countries, including China and Spain. While in Spain, he had the joy of reuniting with some of his beloved grandchildren, exploring the picturesque countryside with them.

Upon returning to the United States, Jim embraced a nomadic lifestyle, investing in a motorhome that became his home on wheels. He traversed the vast landscapes of the United States, relishing in the beauty of Mexico and Canada. His travels led him to destinations such as Belize, Columbia, the East and West Coasts, and even the glittering lights of Las Vegas. When Jim wasn't on the road, he found solace and happiness living with his daughter Sandy in Sandstone, MN, where he cherished precious moments with his extended family, including his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings.

Jim's memory will forever be cherished by his six children, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and four beloved siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeremiah and Gertrude, brother, Ken, and sisters, Mary and Isabel.

Jim's indomitable spirit, adventurous nature, and love for family will forever be imprinted in our hearts. He lived a life filled with exploration, love, and unforgettable moments. Though his journey in this world has come to an end, his legacy will continue to inspire us as we carry his memory forward.

As we celebrate the remarkable life of Jim, we invite friends and loved ones to join us in bidding him a fond farewell on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the United Methodist Church of Peace, located at 6345 Xerxes Ave S, Richfield, MN 55423, from 12 PM to 4 PM.
