Irene Esther Harthan of Mora, MN passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the St. Cloud Hospital. She was 85 years old.

Irene Harthan was born at home to Edna and Hilton Zellman on August 6th, 1938 in Pomeroy township.  She attended Quamba school for six years and then moved onto Mora High School.  She obtained her GED in 2007.

In 1958 she married Don Kopp.  They had two daughters and three sons together.  They divorced in 1973.  She then remarried Dave Harthan from 1973 to 1984.

Her occupations included the co-op, Brighter Day, Kanabec County Sheriff's office and Tom Thumb.  She retired in 2004, after serving with the sheriff's office for 26 years.  After retirement she continued to deliver pizza for Pizza Hut for several years.

Irene collected anything Rooster or Marilyn Monroe related, filling her home with these items.  She enjoyed making woven rugs and showing her talent to family and friends.  She was rarely ever seen without lipstick and polished nails.

She loved and appreciated all flowers, but especially Lilacs.  Her interests also included Wheel-of-Fortune, playing cards, solitaire, and she had to watch her Minnesota Twins.  She adored the companionship she received from her cat Al, and her dogs; Freckles and Lucy.  Most of all, Irene loved her family and friends and spending as much time with them as she could.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Hilton, her sister Margaret, her daughter Margo Hatch and her infant great granddaughter Kiley Orozco.

She is survived by her children, Wayne Harthan of Baudette, MN, Craig (Stacy) Harthan of Crystal Lake, IL, Tim (Linda) Harthan of Cape Coral, FL, Beth (Ed Dunkley) Harthan of Mora, MN, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and her sister, Betty Peterson of Cambridge, MN.

A funeral service will be held for Irene at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora, MN with Pastor Anthony Cloose officiating. Visitation will take place one hour before the funeral service at the church and on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Dresser Methven Funeral and Cremation services located at 124 E. Maple Avenue, Mora, MN.
